“I’ve been having family problems for a while now and have real difficulty falling asleep. I’m often up all night and this leaves me feeling anxious and depressed, the situation with my family isn’t getting easier and my work is getting frustrated because I’m continuously calling in sick. I didn’t know where to turn or who to talk to which made me feel so alone all the time. After speaking with my GP she referred me on to HSS, and I received some counselling from a qualified Mental Health Nurse. The support and tools I have been given have helped immensely and it is a comfort to know that I have a familiar, helpful face checking in with me regularly.” – Client testimonial
HSS’ Mental Health team provides a dynamic, holistic service that is individually tailored to best meet the needs of each client.
Mental Illness can strike almost anyone, anywhere. No matter what the cause, it’s important to know you have a choice in where you turn for help.
HSS has a team of highly qualified Mental Health experts including Registered Mental Health Nurses who can visit you or a loved one in the safety and comfort of your own home.
With our rapid response service, we can coordinate a visit within 24 hours.
A major benefit of this service is that our Mental Health experts are on call 24 hours a day seven days a week to speak with you if you need advice at any time.
Our continuity of care ensures that the same familiar face will be seen every time, ensuring consistency and trust can be developed with regular contact.
The HSS Mental Health Team has a holistic approach to care, supporting mental health patients by assessing their individual needs, supporting their medication regime, focusing on improving their social situation and coordinating and determining the most appropriate care.
Your loved one can receive as much one on one assistance as is deemed necessary, with the flexibility to revise the plan of care if and when the need arises. You can then have the peace of mind that the consistent contact will assist with maintaining good health.
Our Mental Health experts can also assist in group environments such as holding education sessions within schools, community and sporting groups to assist the wider community to recognise signs early on, and to know what to do and where to turn if the need arises.
HSS is aligned with the mental health reform strategy of ‘increasing the capacity of community health services to enable people with a mental health condition to better manage their illness in a community environment’, reducing the need for hospitalisation.
