Adjusting your exercise mindset

Do you find yourself always making an excuse for not exercising?

This activity is about working through some of the barriers and brainstorming how you can make some changes towards your goal. Work through the following questions and see if you can understand what is getting in the way of you making the changes you need for improved wellbeing.

  • What are your current barriers to achieving your physical activity goal? (eg. “I can’t find the time”)
  • When you are regularly physically active how do you feel? (eg. “I feel like I have more energy for the rest of the day” or “I feel stronger”)
  • When you are not regularly physically active how do you feel? (eg. “I feel sluggish”)
  • What can you change at the moment? (eg. “I can park a 15 minute walk from my destination”)

Now that you have identified some barriers and how not achieving makes you feel, have a think about something you can achieve & then write down the Pros & Cons involved to see if there are more Pros.
