Our experienced team provides acute home care services for a range of clinical conditions that aims to allow people to leave hospital early and receive their care at home when clinically appropriate.

What is hospital in the home?

If you need hospital services you may be able to choose where you receive this care. Our Hospital in the Home service can provide the care you need in the comfort and privacy of your own home*, as an alternative to hospital in-patient treatment.

Where clinically appropriate, Hospital in the Home offers health services to help you transition from hospital to home. Hospital in the Home may mean an earlier discharge from hospital.

  • Medication management
  • Anticoagulant therapy
  • Diabetes management
  • Continence management
  • Intravenous therapy
  • Stoma / PEG / catheter management
  • Pain management
  • Wound management.

What are the advantages of Hospital in the Home?

Hospital in the Home allows you to receive hospital services, where clinically appropriate, in your own surroundings. This means your family and friends can visit you whenever you like, instead of being limited to hospital visiting hours. You will also be able to enjoy the creature comforts of home such as your own bed, your favourite couch, and your own TV, along with the company of your furry or feathered friends.

In short, you might be able enjoy all the things that make your life a little more comfortable and personal, while receiving the services and care at home.

How is it funded?

The cost of Hospital in the Home may be covered by your health fund, depending on your fund and level of cover. Please contact your health fund to find out if you are eligible for the service, and what level of cover you are entitled to.

Our accreditation

Amplar Home Health is accredited against the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards^. These are the same standards that are used for hospitals so you and your family can be reassured our services have been assessed by a hospital level accrediting agency.

^Services delivered by Amplar Home Health are assessed against the following NSQHS Standards: Clinical Governance Standard, Partnering with Consumers Standard, Preventing and Controlling Healthcare-Associated Infection Standard, Medication Safety Standard, Comprehensive Care Standard, Communicating for Safety Standard, Recognising and Responding to Acute Deterioration Standard. We do not do blood transfusions or deliver other blood products so are not assessed against the Blood Management Standard.
